Kohima: Voting is underway for bypolls to two Assembly constituencies in Nagaland- 14 Southern Angami I and 60 Pungro-Kiphire on Tuesday.
According to election officials, Around 67.92 percent of the total of 43,242 voters turnout was recorded till 1 pm in bypolls.
Southern Angami-1 seat in Kohima district recorded 57.1 percent polling, while 78.75 percent of voters have cast their ballots in Pungro Kiphire constituency in Kiphire district. Polling began at 6 am in both the seats, they said, adding no untoward incident has been reported so far.

A total of 99 polling stations have been set up for the voting purpose and a total of 600 polling officers have been deployed at all the stations, Chief electoral officer (CEO) Abhijit Sinha informed.
All the polling stations have been sanitized and necessary arrangements have been made to ensure webcasting from all major polling booths.
However, the webcasting would be done from only 30% of booths in Kiphire due to poor internet connectivity and offline videography would be done for the remaining booths.
Reportedly, measures such as thermal screening, providing masks, sanitizers, and hand gloves to voters, and demarcating polling areas to ensure social distancing have been undertaken.
