Be careful Northeast buyers! A gang of 3 that stole vehicles in Delhi-NCR and sold them off in Northeast Indian states have been arrested by Noida police.
4 stolen vehicles, including 2 cars and 2 motorcycles, have been recovered from the smugglers. According to an initial probe, the gang has so far lifted around 30 vehicles from Delhi-NCR and sold them in the Northeastern States.

"The gang would lift the vehicles from Delhi-NCR and take them by road to the Northeastern states especially Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya, and sell them off there. After lifting a vehicle they would change their registration number, omit the chassis number and use fake RCs for these vehicles", Delhi police said.
It is to be mentioned that vehicles stolen in Delhi often find their way to the Northeast. Earlier in October, recovered six Royal Enfield bikes from smugglers in Guwahati city of Assam.

The bikes had been stolen in New Delhi — mostly from South Delhi area — and had been brought to Guwahati. The Guwahati Railway Police found the vehicles at the Railway Parcel office, after launching an investigation. A man from Manipur had come to fetch the bikes, but was apprehended by the authorities.
This is an isolated incident, but similar acts of thievery and smuggling of vehicles to the Northeast from the Delhi NCR-region has been reported time and time again.
