The National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) has accused the Assam Rifles of violating the ceasefire agreement for allegedly apprehending a staff of Zeliang region NSCN-IM few days ago.
The NSCN-IM stated that the 23 Assam Rifles detained the staff, Ringnichang Khapur without any reason. The NSCN-IM staff was apprehended by the Assam Rifles team on November 16 from Riangpang Village of Nungba sub-division.
A statement by the NSCN-IM said, “The Assam Rifles team which violated the cease fire ground rules was, however, confronted by the womenfolk and public of Riangpang village and Nungba areas who blocked the National Highway 39 to demand the release of the arrested Khapur."
The statement added, "A woman was seriously injured as her head was pierced with a gun barrel of the Assam Rifles personnel and had to be hospitalized at Nungba, while many others were injured in their bid to rescue the Khapur’.
The NSCN-IM futher alleged that Khapur was tortured by the Assam Rifles personnel inside the vehicle.
