Indians stuck at the Warsaw Airport in Poland have urged the Government of India to facilitate their return at the earliest as they have been stranded at the Airport after their flights were rescheduled thrice.

A video shared by the Indian Community of Poland shows the ones stranded at the Warsaw Airport appealing to the Government of India to help them in their safe return.

“My parents are stuck at the Airport. Poland is closing the borders. LOT (Polish) Airlines are still operating two flights and they have taken one empty flight. A lot many people are stranded here. Some are students, some are teachers, everyone has emergency of some kind or the other. Some also don’t have visas, others don’t have a place to live,” said Varun, one of those awaiting Indian Government’s aid.

“We have been here since the past two days. Our dormitories have also been vacated. We don’t have any place to go. Around 50 of us are stuck here, so we request Indian Government to please take some action and get us out of here,” said another Indian stuck in Poland.

“Since the past three days, the airlines have been issuing boarding passes. Flights have been cancelled. Restaurants are closed here. We are in a critical condition,” said yet another passenger.

It may be mentioned here that Indian residing abroad have been facing inconveniences due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus or COVID-19. Several MPs on Wednesday raised the issue of Indian students stranded in the Philippines, Malaysia, Italy and Iran and demanded the Government to take necessary steps for their evacuation.

The Government has informed that 276 Indians abroad have been affected by coronavirus.  Around 2,400 Indians, including  students and fishermen, are in Iran and efforts are being made for their evacuation, according to Government, which said similar efforts were on in regards to the Indians stranded in Malaysia, Philippines, Italy  and other countries.

However, as and when they will be evacuated is as of now uncertain. India has a total number of reported novel coronavirus cases of 169, with 30 fresh cases reported from various parts of the country. The number includes 25 foreign nationals and the three persons who died in Delhi, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

219,265 people have been infected with the novel coronavirus globally, out of which, 124,552 are currently active or currently infected cases and 6,814  are in critical condition. 8,968 people have died so far according to https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
