Sub-Lieutenant Shivangi Becomes first Woman Pilot for Indian Navy

New Delhi, December 2, 2019:

In the latest chapter in 'girl power', Sub-lieutenant Shivangi has become the first woman pilot of the Indian Navy on Monday. The young lady will be flying the Dornier surveillance aircraft of the Indian Navy.

Shivangi, who was born in Muzaffarpur in Bihar, joined her duty at the Kochi naval base today.

Shivangi has said that she waiting for this oppourtunity from a very long time and now she would looking to complete the third stage of her training. "I have been craving for this since a very long time and finally it is here, so it's a great feeling. I am looking forward to complete my third stage of training," she told mediapersons.

Sub-lieutenant Shivangi completed her schooling from DAV Public School Muzzafarpur. She was inducted in the Indian Navy as SSC (Pilot) as part of 27 NOC course in Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.

She was commissioned by Vice Admiral AK Chawala in 2018. She had undergone training in the Southern Naval Command of the Indian Navy.
