Her body has been sent for autopsy and will be handed over to the family after that. Meanwhile, the family has said that they will bury her body, as there is nothing left to cremate.

Reportedly, the 23-year-old woman in her statement to the police said that she was going to a local railway station to catch a train to Rae Bareli at 4 am when five people (identified the name) surrounded her and first hit her on the leg with a stick. Then, they stabbed her in the neck with a knife and poured petrol and set her on fire.

One of the two men accused of raping her in 2018 was granted bail 10 days back whereas the other was on the run. The police arrested all the five men involved in the Thursday attack within hours of the crime.

The father of the victim alleged that the police didn't take any action, despite being informed that the rape accused had been making constant threats to his daughter and other family members.

On the other hand, her brother said that she told her family that she didn't want to die, and wanted to see the accused sentenced to death instead.
