"No heated arguments, only development focused dialogue": Kiren Rijiju ahead of winter session
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday, November 30 called for a calm and constructive atmosphere in the Winter Session of Parliament, emphasizing cooperation among all political parties during the crucial legislative period.
Speaking ahead of an all-party meeting, Rijiju said the government intends to listen carefully to the concerns of the opposition instead of dominating the discussion.
“We won’t be saying much on behalf of the government today. We will sit with all leaders from all parties and listen to them,” he stated.
Rijiju informed that key Business Advisory Committee meetings have been scheduled — the Lok Sabha panel at 4 pm and the Rajya Sabha panel at 5 pm — where the government will present its official agenda for the session.
“Since it’s the winter session, we hope everyone works with a cool head and avoids heated debates. A smooth Parliament session will benefit the entire nation,” he added, expressing hope that disruptions will be avoided.
On being asked about discussions related to the Spectacles Identity Rule (SIR), the Minister refrained from confirming any government plans.
“I cannot say what issues we will bring up for discussion. The Election Commission is independent, autonomous, and a constitutional body. Everyone knows how harmful it is to attack such an institution,” he said, criticizing the Congress and other opposition parties for undermining the poll body.
Commenting on the recent political developments in Bihar, Rijiju said a stable government with strong public support has been formed once again under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
“It has been proven that Modiji is equally popular in Bihar. People vote for those who perform and deliver. Good work has been done there,” he remarked.
The Winter Session is expected to witness intense debates over key bills, governance issues, and national political developments, while the Centre continues to push for peaceful proceedings in the House.
