The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has been a ray of light for injured and abandoned wildlife, especially elephants and rhinos, deep in Kenya. Their most recent touching story is about Chamboi, a cute baby rhino whose journey has won over many people's hearts on social media.

In a video that the trust posted, Chamboi can be seen running enthusiastically following his carer while out on a stroll in the evening. The caption accompanying the video beautifully captures the essence of Chamboi's life now: "Being the pocket rocket that he is, he likes to sprint back, with plenty of breaks for cuddles in between!"

On September 6, 2023, on a beautiful afternoon, rangers from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and Tsavo Trust found Chamboi by himself beside a waterhole in the free-roaming rhino range of Tsavo West National Park. This is how Chamboi's tale began. Despite the fact that black rhinos are known to thrive in this region, Chamboi's mother was inexplicably absent. The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust intervened immediately to offer Chamboi a second shot at life.

Chamboi's new family is the trust, which is well-known for its innovative efforts in saving and rehabilitating orphaned newborn elephants and rhinos. The young rhino has showed amazing tenacity and happiness in his new environment.

From leisurely mud baths and lengthy walks to midday naps and lively afternoons, Chamboi's days are full with love and adventure. His incredible love and devotion for his caretakers—who have taken on the role of his surrogate parents—showcase the special relationship that has developed between people and the wildlife that is under the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's protection.
