About COVID-19 reinfections:
When it comes to Covid-19, at least as of now, reinfections appear to be very rare.
Out of more than 40 million Covid-19 cases reported worldwide, there have been only five properly documented reinfections.
A tracker maintained by the Dutch news agency BNO News had recorded 24 cases globally as of Oct. 16. The first confirmed case, a 33-year-old man from Hong Kong, was reported in August.
That’s a rate of 1.25 per 10 million infections. However, some re-infections have been quite alarming -- a re-infected female patient passed away.
However, in several Indian states, there have been murmurs of COVID-19 reinfections. At the same time, fears are also rife over a second wave of COVID-19 reinfections.
The Assam Health department is said to be monitoring COVID re-infection of recovered patients to ascertain whether there is a secpond wave of the novel coronavirus.
