Members of Parliament from Sikkim, PD Rai and Hishey Lachungpa, called on the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh at his North Block Office in New Delhi today.The meeting was cordial and warm.

They apprised the Hon’ble Home Minister about the recent 3rd Conclave of NEDA that took place in Guwahati and chaired by Amit Shahji, National President of BJP.

They thanked him for the security clearance given to HH the Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje and allowing him to visit Sikkim. They informed him that this was an issue taken up at the highest level by the Hon Chief Minister of Sikkim. Rajnath Singh ji also enquired about Chamling ji and was happy to learn about the Jan Sampark Abhiyan that HCM is undertaking presently.

They presented a memorandum to the Home Minister. In that they sought his intervention in resolving the Limboo Tamang seats reservation issue. In that they have requested that the Amendments to be passed by Parliament may be brought soon. They also enclosed the copy of letter written to him by the HCM in February 2018, elaborating in detail about the issues under consideration. He has assured to

look into this matter expeditiously.

They also requested for the early resolution of the 11 communities who have been left out from the scheduled tribe status. The matter with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

They also sought his intervention in the resolution of the Old Settlers’ issue of Sikkim. Early settlers want income tax relief as has been given to Sikkim subject holders. The matter is at present subjudice.
