The Bharatiya Janata Party and it’s ally tribal based Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) today released the joint statement regarding the basis of the alliance formed between two parties for the upcoming assembly elections slated on Feb 18 next. Tripura election in-charge and Finance Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the alliance was formed to end up 25 years rule of Left Front. The state experience a total collapse of governance and the political landscape of the state was kept deprived of a constructive opposition, he blamed after releasing the statement signed by IPFT president N C Debbarma and BJP president Biplab Kumar Deb.
The statement said alliance was formed in the back drop of ongoing initiative of Ministry of Home Affairs for constituting of inter-ministerial high level committee for in-depth study of the socio-economic, educational, cultural and linguistic status of the indigenous population of the state, which will submit the report within a stipulated time frame.
