In action against the assault on a gynecologist Doctor, Indian Medical Association Tripura wing and all doctor associations of the state has decided to withdraw their voluntary services of pathology, private practice, health camp, blood donation, and other services for a week as a protest.

The gynecologist Doctor namely Dipankar Debnath was assaulted after a pregnant lady death at IGM Hospital. Dr. Debnath said a pregnant lady was shifted in IGM Hospital on Wednesday afternoon; it was a pre-delivery case. He received a call from the hospital at night that the patient had undergone cardiac arrest. They tried one hour to survive the patient but failed.
On Thursday morning he was pulled out from his chamber, and he was rushed to the City Centre which is one and a half kilometer far from IGM Hospital. He was beaten badly. On duty, nurses rushed behind them and rescued him from a drain. He was injured critically in the head and other parts of the body. Now he is shifted to GB trauma center ICU.
Doctor Souvik Majumdar, secretary IMA Tripura wing said, “In last one year 11 doctors was assaulted. We are feeling insecure in hospitals; in this situation, we are unable to give our services to the patient. If authority did not take necessary action, not only in this case, also 11 incidents, which occurred in one year, doctors may mass resign as the protest.”
Meanwhile, Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman visited GB hospital and met the injured doctor. He inquired the hospital staffs, and authorities about the incident and assured the doctor’s family and all doctors that he will stand with them to get justice and he will take the matter in the knowledge of Home Minister.
