Former Chief Engineer of the Tripura Public Works Department (PWD) Sunil Bhowmik was arrested by police late last night. At present, he is in the West Agartala Police station.

On Sunday night, a case was registered against present MLA and former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury, along two other former top officials of the former Left front government in Tripura, former Chief Secretary of the state Yash Pal Singh (Y P Singh), and former chief engineer of PWD Sunil Bhowmik. Sunil Bhowmik was detained after a police raid at his residence last night.

Police also raided two MLA hostels located at Agartala where present MLA Badal Choudhury is believed to be staying. However, last night, he was not there. Sources confirmed that police are searching different places to nab the former Minister, who is reported to be absconding.
