Woman held with brown sugar worth Rs 7 lakh in Tripura's Khowai district
A young married woman was arrested on Thursday evening during a special police operation near the Teliamura railway station of Tripura’s Khowai District, after Tripura Police recovered brown sugar valued at over Rs 7 lakh from her possession.
The incident has triggered widespread sensation in the locality.
According to Officer-in-Charge of Teliamura Police Station, Jayanta Dey, the arrest was made following specific intelligence inputs regarding increased drug activity around the Trisha Bari area adjacent to the station.
“Acting on the tip-off, a police team conducted a targeted raid during which the woman was found moving suspiciously. Upon searching her, officers reportedly seized a significant quantity of brown sugar. She was immediately taken into custody in accordance with legal norms”, the OC said.
Police sources said the woman hails from Khayerpur and her parental home is in Suryamaninagar of Agartala under West District.
A detailed investigation into the incident is currently underway, and authorities have assured that all legal processes are being followed.
