Diphu, December 4, 2019:                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Continuing their indefinite protest, members of the social organisations of Karbi Anglong district in Assam are demanding 100% job reservation in the newly-inaugurated Diphu Medical College.

One of the agitators told Inside Northeast, "We are demanding this because once Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during his visit to Diphu Medical College made a promise to the people of Karbi Anglong that third-grade and fourth-grade jobs will be given to the local candidates of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao but the candidates who were chosen belong to other parts of the state.

Condemning the 'discrimination' by the Govt of Assam, the Karbi Students’ Association also submitted a memorandum regarding the issue.

The organizations have further informed that they have negotiated 3 times with the government of Assam and KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang.

"We are sitting here today to compel the govt to review the interviews and until and unless we receive any response from the government, we will continue to protest", said an agitator.

The Karbis further alleged that they have been betrayed. "I am not talking about a particular party but time and again the Assam Govt. has been betraying the people of Karbi Anglong and this is a very serious issue", said the protester.

Demanding review of the examination conducted for the third and fourth grade posts, they have threatened to take the matter to the Court, if required.
