BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary on Tuesday said that the Bodo and non-Bodo debate is a creation of the media.
Speaking on the issue, Mohilary said, “There has been a great controversy regarding reports of the BTAD being turned into a Union Territorial Council (UTC) but there was no such discussions taken by the government. The decision can never be taken without discussion with all the groups, communities or organisations in the region.”

He added that the decisions related to the BTAD can never be taken just by discussing with the NDFB-P. “The government has to discuss the issue with all everyone and only then such an important discussion could be made. But, it was seen that the media has created another controversy with it. The media has created Bodo and non-Bodo”, he added.
Mohilary further added, “The government will have to discuss with the Ranjan Daimary faction of the NDFB as well as the anti-talks faction of the NDFB as well. The government cannot get into any conclusion with discussing with the NDFB members who are still in jungle.”
He added that the BTAD is home to several communities and ethnic groups. These communities will have to coexist with one another with peace and harmony.
