Guwahati, March 24, 2019:

BJP national General Secretary Ram Madhav, on a visit to Guwahati ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections in the state, has claimed that the party will win all ten seats it will contest in during the ensuing Assembly elections in Assam.

But all is not well within the party ranks in the state as there have been murmurs of growing dissatisfaction among party workers due to the denial of ticket to Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Amit Shah’s justification that Biswa Sarma has been denied a ticket because of his duties as NEDA Convenor also has not been well-received as Shah himself is contesting from Gandhinagar, despite being the BJP in-charge of all 543 seats in the country.

Responding to this particular query from an InsideNE reporter, Ram Madhav said: “It means that Himanta Biswa’ Sarma’s burden is even bigger than Amit Shah’s as he has to contend with five Governments in the region. Moreover, we needed his time and his energy for candidates of all Northeast. Apart from elections, Modi has accorded a special status to Northeast as he wants to develop the region exponentially. Keeping development of the Northeast region in mind, the party has taken this decision.”

In regards to the party’s prospects in the Northeast, he said that the BJP’s anti-Congress forum, the NEDA, had also set some specific goals for itself. “We have assured the Prime Minister that NEDA parties will give him at least 20 out of 25 seats. In Arunachal too, in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, we have a good chance of winning and I am confident that we will have an elected BJP Government in the state. In Manipur too, we will do well. In Nagaland, we are supporting the NDPP, and I am positive that they will do well.”

Ram Madhav also informed that PM Modi will again come to the Northeast next week and again twice in April. Amit Shah will also come to the Northeast to campaign for the BJP before the elections.
