Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang met Union Minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah in New Delhi today to discuss pending demands and issues.
Tamang discussed seat reservation of Limboo and Tamang communities and tribal status to all the left out 11 communities of Sikkim and other pending demands. He also presented the White Paper to Shah on the Financial and Development mismanagement by the previous government.
Tamang also presented the White Paper on Teesta-Urja Hydel Power Project citing mismanagement and negligence on the project’s completion. The issue of embezzlement of public fund was also raised during the discussion. Additionally, he presented the list of Sanskrit teachers recently appointed by the State Government in various schools of Sikkim.
The CM was accompanied by Minister of Rural Development Department, Sonam Lama and Arun Upreti, Minister for Urban Development Department. He also congratulated Shah on the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A of the Constitution related to the State of Jammu & Kashmir and peaceful transition.
He further thanked Shah on his assurance for the protection and preservation of Article 371F of the Constitution that is related to the special status of the northeastern states.
Amit Shah assured Tamang to consider the long-pending political, social and economic demands of the Sikkim.
