Danava Dynasty: Asurs of Assam

Danava dynasty was the first legendary line of rulers in Pragjyotisha, established by Mahiranga Danava

The Danava dynasty consisted of Kirata chiefs; the last of whom, Ghatakasura, was killed and replaced by Naraka

Mahiranga Danava Mahiranga Danava was the earliest known king of Assam. He was a non-Aryan and had his capital at Mairanka, some 7 miles from Guwahati

Hatakasura The last ruler of Danava dynasty was Ghatakasura and he was killed by Narakasura

Banasura A mighty asura, Bana once ruled over a large kingdom. His influence was so strong and fierce that all the kings and even some of the devas shuddered in front of him

Sambarasura Sambarasura is an asura featured in Hindu mythology. He abducted the infant Pradyumna, the son of Krishna and Rukmini, and attempted to drown him

Bhagadatta (Mahabaharata period) Bhagadatta was the son of Narakasura, and the king of Pragjyotisha in Hindu mythology. He was born from a limb of the asura called Bashkala
