Guwahati, June 3, 2019:

The missing AN 32 aircraft on Monday relives the memories of another such incident that occurred almost a decade back in 2009. It was the same location, same time with 13 passengers onboard, the AN 32 aircraft crashed in that year.

In the month of June 2009, an aircraft had crashed over the Rinchi Hill above Heyo village, about 30 km from Mechuka advance landing ground. The incident occurred at the same time with an identical number of passengers on board.

In the year 2009, 13 defense personnel were killed in that mishap. Among the seven IAF men and six Army personnel on board the ill-fated aircraft, there were two wing commanders, two squadron leaders, and a flight lieutenant.

An almost similar incident took place today where a similar AN 32 aircraft carrying 13 defense personnel went missing near Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh. The aircraft took off at around 1 pm from Jorhat district in Assam.

Although the Air Force transport plane was expected to land at 1:30 pm at Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh, there was no communication with the aircraft for many hours.

It is to be mentioned that an Antonov AN-32 (NATO reporting name: Cline) transporter aircraft of the Indian Airforce is missing in Arunachal Pradesh. One AN-32 Transporter aircraft of Indian Airforce is missing at Arunachal Pradesh. The aircraft took off at around 1 pm from Jorhat district in Assam.

Since the aircraft did not reach the airfield, ‘overdue action’ was initiated by the IAF. The missing plane was last seen at the Shi Yomi district. A Sukhoi-30 Aircraft has been deployed to locate the missing AN-32.

There are also reports that the wreckage of the ill-fated aircraft has been spotted in Payum. However the IAF officials have not confirmed it.
