GOHPUR: Four persons from Arunachal were among 14 people arrested at the Gohpur town near the Assam-Arunachal border for possession of drugs, cash three vehicles, and two wheelers.
The four Arunachalees have been identified as Guchi Nir (29), general secretary of the Kamle District Students’ Union, Baba Giba (22), Yapi Kena (35), and Puja Lama.
The Assam police stated that they were arrested with a huge amount of brown sugar (heroin) and some cash.
It is said that the arrests were made during a massive operation launched by the Gohpur police, led by SDPO Shubhalakshmi Dutta amid the state's crackdown against drug peddlers.

Acting on a tip-off, the police initially arrested one Rup Kumar Mushari and his wife with some cash and empty containers.
Following the lead, the Gohpur police further arrested drug dealers from Bhogpur, Laluk, and Rajgarh, and some persons were arrested from near Hollongi, the Gohpur police stated in a release.
The police seized two Mahindra Scorpio vehicles, one Swift Dezire, a Maruti Alto, two motorcycles, and two scooters from the alleged accused, along with 51 grams of suspected brown sugar, 14 mobile phones, hundreds of containers for drugs, and Rs 1,29,468 in cash, stated ASP Saikia.
A case has been registered at the Gohpur police station and the matter is under investigation.
