KHONSA: Eight National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) militants surrendered before the Longding police in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.
Five NSCN-KYA and three NSCN-R cadres, laid down their arms before Longding Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikram HM Meena.
The cadres, who were holding influential positions and working actively for their organisation, were reportedly engaged in extortion and collection of ‘taxes’.
The surrendered NSCN-KYA cadres include self-styled 'lance corporal' Nyaipho Gangsa, 33, 'sergeant' Wangkiak Wangsa, 25, and 'privates' BowgangGangsa, 38, AlemWangpan, 30, and Banthak Wangpan, 32.

The cadres from NSCN-R include self-styled 'sergeant' Khuapoh Wangpan, 27, 'corporal' Nokthat Wangpan and 'private' WangjepWangsu 27.
On February 26, eight NSCN cadres of two factions of the outfit laid down arms in the same district.
