Guwahati: A 12-hour long capital bandh in Itanagar is underway as the All Nyishi Students' Union (ANSU) has demanded the immediate transfer of Arunachal Pradesh's Commissioner (Education) along with other demands to drop all criminal cases against the ANSU.
The bandh was called from 5 AM to 5 PM on November 23.
The demands include, ”Immediate Transfer of Present Commissioner (Education), Niharika Rai from the State and Immediate dropping of the criminal case against the Team ANSU.”
The protesters with the bandh going on have protested by burning tyres on the streets and raising slogans. No reports of any violence or disturbance were there, and the protesters have also allowed freeway for ambulances and emergency vehicles.
On the other hand, Home Minister Bamang Felix has termed the bandh as unjustified stating that the 14-point demands raised by ANSU have already been accepted. He has also urged the organisation to withdraw the bandh.
