Arunachal Flood Victims to get Rs 15 lakh each

Itanagar (Arunachal), September 7, 2018:

The Arunachal Pradesh Disaster Management Department (APDMD) will give Rs 15 lakh each to the people who lost their houses in the recent flood that took place in Mebo subdivision in East Siang district.

The APDMD will deposit the relied assistance to the bank accounts of the victims.

Officials visited the flood-affected villages of Mebo subdivision and the eroded river banks at Borguli, Seram, Namsing, Ralling and Sigar villages and interacted with the flood victims. However, they could not reach some areas due to the turbulent currents in the river.

It may be mentioned that during the flood over 1,000 families living along the river bank were affected.

East Siang Deputy Commissioner is also taking steps to assess the damages of agricultural land and crop due to erosion.

Following the incidents, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has urged Union Home Minister to depute an inter-ministerial team to assess the damage.
