East Siang Superintendent of Police, Prashant Gautam today morning informed that in an effort to check the inflow of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslim migrants and others in Arunachal Pradesh after NRC drive in Assam, total of 108 intruders were detected by police and deported beyond the inner line jurisdiction in last two days.

Gautam said that, out of 108 violators 23 were detected at Sille-Oyan police checkpoint and 85 were identified at Ruskin gate who were trying to enter the state without valid Inner Line Permit (ILP). He further informed that the drive is being carried out by SDPO Ruksin, Olik Tamut and added that along with rest of the state, East Siang police has also intensified the ILP checking in various parts of the district.

Meanwhile, District Administration and police have urged the genuine visitors from outside the state to obtain valid ILP from the competent authorities while visiting or staying in the district. This intensified ILP drive is being carried out in accordance with the threat perception coming in of large numbers of illegal migrants lining or queuing up to enter or to take shelter in Arunachal Pradesh after recent displacement of Bangladeshi and  Muslims from Assam in their much hyped NRC drive to detect and deport illegal foreigners.

While thanking the District Administration and District Police led by DC, Tamiyo Tatak and SP, Prashant Gautam for the much needed drive to keep Pasighat and East Siang free from illegal foreign migrants, the local student body All Bogong Students’ Union (E) President, Lungkang Ering has said that, drive should also be carried out in Tulap and Reserve Forest areas (near Pasighat township) including construction sites and other places in the township areas where hundreds and thousands of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya muslims are working as labourers and domestic helps.

Police personnel manning the check gates at Ruskin, Sille-Oyan and Mebo should nowhere compromise on this issue as usually police are slammed of taking money and let the ILP violators go or roam freely in the district, added Lungkang Ering whose union had recently submitted a petition to DC, Pasighat seeking urgent drive against stopping entry of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingia Muslims in the district.
