ITANAGAR: A 70-year-old woman was burnt to death on Wednesday in Arunachal’s Kunuyami village, West Siang district, according to a local official.

According to sources, the woman’s husband Pogo Bogo suffered burn injuries.

Gomo Bogo and his 70-year-old mother Tobom Bogo lived in the house.

The home was burnt to ashes in the blaze that erupted at 9 a.m.

According to the sources, the woman died while attempting to save a box holding local ornaments from the fire.

A fire tender from Aalo was dispatched but there was no way to save anything. The house owner lost everything of his belongings including livestock.

Nyamar Karbak, the Liromoba MLA, the West Siang DC, the Kamba ADC and others rushed at the spot and assessed the situation.

The district administration gave immediate assistance.
