Cyclone hits Koloriang & adjoining areas several houses damaged, Taram appeals for relief

 

A powerful cyclone hit the Koloriang Township and its adjoining areas on 10th June afternoon, blowing away CGI sheets from several dwelling houses and damaging few of them. However, there are no reports of any human casualty.

Confirming the occurrence, Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner Kangki Darang informed that the cyclone lashed the Koloriang Township at around 3 pm and lasted for half an hour.

The DC, presently on an official tour to the State capital, said that as per the information, several CGI sheet roofing houses have been blown away and few damaged. But there has been no loss of any life and heavy damage of property.

Sources in Koloriang said that six houses have been badly damaged in Taipa village while several houses were partially damaged in Nikja, Kolung, Ramja, Yapak and Sotum villages as well as in Koloriang township area. Kurung Kumey SP Mihin Gambo informed that he has instructed his sub-ordinates to visit the affected area and help the cyclone-hit people.

Meanwhile, Koloriang MLA Pani Taram appealed to the district administration and the state government to immediately provide relief to the cyclone affected people of Koloriang Township and its adjoining areas.
