ITANAGAR: Tawang district bordering China in Arunachal Pradesh has recorded the season`s first snowfall bringing cheer to tourists and local people.
The district received a few inches of snow in the past three days, with the temperature dipping below zero degree Celsius, official sources informed.
Tourists travelling to Tawang and Bum-La Pass in Arunachal Pradesh witnessed the first snowfall of the season. Snowfall in India can be witnessed by tourists in the Himalayan belt. The tourists along the Sino-India border at Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district, enjoyed the blessings of nature, and soon enough, the entire place was covered with white snow.
Bum-La Pass in Arunachal Pradesh is located at a height of 15,200 ft, and has a historical importance, as this is the road through which China invaded India during the War of 1962. Today it stands as a popular tourist destination, and Tawang is in fact only about 37 km away from this pass. Tawang is mostly visited during the winter season, which is from October to December.
Located at a height of about 3048m, is known for many important and beautiful monasteries and is famous for being the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso.
