ROING: A shopkeeper in Arunachal Pradesh’s Roing was shot dead from point-blank range in broad daylight on Valentine’s Day after he refused to give credit to a customer.

 

The incident took place around 12.30 PM when the shopkeeper named Sanjay Yadav (35-year-old) was shot with a 12 bore SBBL gun.

The accused has been identified as Tenkur Ngupok (22-year-old).

According to report, lower Dibang Valley Superindent of Police (SP) JK Lego informed that Ngupok has been purchasing items from Yadav‘s shop on credit and he was not paying for a very long time.

“On Sunday, Ngupok went to his shop and demanded more items on credit, while Yadav refused to give him any more credit, Ngupok brought the gun from his neighbours’ house without their knowledge and shot Yadav at his shop, Yadav died on the spot,” Lego said.

 

Police arrested the culprit on the same day, and is now under custody.

 

SP Lego said that the culprit will be given punishments for the crime he has committed. “If such crimes are let go off easily, as a whole it will be a risk for the society.

 

A case has been registered against him under section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) R/W section 27(3) Arms Act and taken up for further investigation.

The dead body has been sent for post mortem.

Yadav has left behind his wife and three children.

Following the incident, Roing main market area remained closed on Monday as a mark of respect for the deceased.
