Arunachal strengthens oxygen availability: 9 plants operational, 24 more to be installed

In a bid to strengthen the state's war against COVID-19, the Arunachal Pradesh government has been taking rigorous measures to build up oxygen availability in the state for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in the state.

ITANAGAR: In a bid to strengthen the state's war against COVID-19, the Arunachal Pradesh government has been taking rigorous measures to build up oxygen availability in the state for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in the state.

Highlighting the importance of oxygen availability in combating the virus, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday informed that the state has 9 operational Oxygen plants at Aalo, Seppa, Tezu, Tawang, Yingkiong, and Ziro; 2 at TRIHMS & 1 at DCH Chimpu.

Khandu added that 24 new plants will be installed in all the districts that have not been covered yet.

The  Chief Minister added that oxygen support has been provided to all District Hospitals, Dedicated Covid Hospitals, and Covid Health Centres, including CHCs and select PHCs and some Covid Care Centre in the state.

Earlier on Wednesday, Khandu also inaugurated a 1200 LPM Oxygen PSA Plant at TRIHMS. Speaking on the occasion, he said, " Dedicated a 1200 LPM Oxygen PSA Plant at TRIHMS, Naharlagun to people of State today".

The Chief Minister further extended gratitude to the Centre and UNDP for their support in setting up oxygen plants for the treatment of COVID patients in the state.

The state Health Department has been directed to work towards a target of 1,000 beds by July end from the present availability of 815 beds, Khandu stated.

The Centre has also approved the setting up of additional oxygen PSA plants at TRIHMS, Naharlagun, and Tenga in the West Kameng district of 1000 LPM capacity each.

The plants will be set up by DRDO under  PM Cares Fund, informed the Chief Minister.

Another 5 PSA plants supported by UNICEF will soon be commissioned, he added.
