Arunachal tea fetches record price

Guwahati (Assam), Aug 23, 2018:

A special variety of tea, Golden Needles, produced by Donyi Polo Tea Estate in Arunachal Pradesh scripted a new history when it fetched a record price at the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre on Thursday morning.

Guwahati-based Assam Tea Traders bought a line of 1.1 kg of the tea for Rs 40,000 and sold by Contemporary Brokers Pvt Ltd.

The same variety of tea produced had fetched Rs 18, 801 per kg in November last year.

Golden Needles tea is a superlative China black tea that has its origin in China’s Yunnan province.
