Arunachal’s Joti Mane Clinches First Gold in East Zone Junior Athletics Championship

Itanagar, September 18, 2019:

Arunachal’s Joti Mane bagged the first gold for the state in the 31st edition of East Zone Junior Athletics Championship.

She achieved the feat in the 5,000 m U-20 girls’ event of the coveted national championships that is underway in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

18-year old Joti Mane hails from Monigong in Arunachal's Shi-Yomi district. Besides this, she also went on to clinch bronze in 1,500 m race.

Appreciating Mane’s achievement, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Pema Khandu took to his social media handle and tweeted, “#Arunachal wins its first #gold in national athletics. Splendid performance in 31st #EastZone #JuniorAthletics Championship, Ranchi. Proud of you #JotiMane for gold in 5000m & #bronze in 1500m U-20 girls! Also proud of you #BamoTanang for bronze in 10000m in U-20 boys!”

Meanwhile, Bamo Tanang, another athlete from Arunachal also won bronze in the U-20 Boys’ 10,000 m race of the competition.
