After Churches in Mizoram condemned the BJP, it is now the turn of the Catholic Church in Arunachal Pradesh to take a stand against the saffron unit which is looked at rather suspiciously by Christian people of the Northeast and beyond due to its agenda of 'Hindutva'.
In an interesting development, The Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association (APCA), an association of the Catholic Church in the frontier state, has requested the all the parishes and Catholic churches to pray for Nabam Tuki, who is contesting the Lok Sabha election from the Arunachal West Constituency on a Congress ticket.

Meanwhile, this move of the Catholic association has not been received too well by the BJP’s Kiren Rijiju, who will be contesting the election against the former Chief Minister Tuki. Taking to social media platform Facebook to express his grief, Rijiju wrote: “This is not proper. We all are children of the GOD who never discriminates. Democracy is system in which the government is elected by the people. I've always served the people with full sincerity. I help all the believers and religious organizations. If anyone has doubt please contact most Reverend Bishop PK George to know about my contributions.”
Arunachal Pradesh will head to the polls on 11 April when the Lok Sabha polls, as well as the Assembly elections, will be held simultaneously.
