Itanagar, April 7, 2020:

The Indian Armed Forces on April 7 successfully facilitated the safe return of an Arunachal Pradesh youth who reportedly had crossed over the border to China in search of herbs on March 19, where he was stranded for several days, official sources have confirmed.

Various sections of the media reported that the 21-year-old youth, Togley Singkam, along with two of his friends had gone to collect herbs in the area near the McMahon line in the remote Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Singkam Gamshi had gone with his friends Chadar and Ronya Nade to the area belonging to the Naa Clan of Tagin community when he reportedly picked up by Chinese army personnel. His friends, however, managed to flee the China army forces.

When the incident came to light, the Indian Army swung into action and approached the Chinese side utilizing the established border management mechanism. After discussions between both the sides, Singkam was handed over to the Indian armed forces earlier today, said the army. This has provided immense relief to the family members of Mr Singkam and also to the people of the area.

The individual has currently been quarantined by the Indian Army in view of COVID-19 will be handed over to his family after the end of the quarantine period, reports said.
