Shocking scenes from the Republic Day celebrations in the Arunachal Pradesh capital Itanagar have emerged. In a clip that has gone viral on social media, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, BD Mishra, is seen walking up the ramp to hoist the flag. Then, the jawans and the Governor tug at the flag in order to hoist it into the air. But for some Inexplicable reason, the flag snaps off the pole and lands on the ground.

To his credit, though, the Governor appears unruffled by the incident and while a jawan holds the flag aloft in the air, the Governor salutes the flag while the national anthem plays in the background.
It is to be mentioned that Mishra is a former Brigadier of the Indian Army and it is probably his ‘military instinct’ that saved the occasion.
The flag was re hoisted after the incident was over. An enquiry has been ordered into the incident.
