An Antonov AN-32 (NATO reporting name: Cline) transporter aircraft of the Indian Airforce is missing in Arunachal Pradesh.
One AN-32 Transporter aircraft of Indian Airforce is missing at Arunachal Pardesh. The aircraft took off at around 1 pm from Jorhat district in Assam.
Although the Air Force transport plane is expected to land at 1:30 pm at Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh, there has been no communication with the aircraft since the past few hours. Around 13 people are reportedly onboard the transporter aircraft -- eight crew members and five passengers.
Since the aircraft did not reach the airfield, ‘overdue action’ was initiated by the IAF.
The missing plane was last seen at the Shi Yomi district. A Sukhoi-30 Aircraft has been deployed to locate the missing AN-32.
Meanwhile, newly-inducted Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has been briefed regarding the situation and took to social-media platform Twitter to express his concern. A tweet from his official Twitter handle reads: "Spoke to Vice Chief of " data-mentioned-user-id="784705308832694272">@IAF_MCC, Air Marshal Rakesh Singh Bhadauria regarding the missing IAF AN-32 Aircraft which is overdue for some hours.
