Indian Army NSCN(IM) has clashed in Arunachal Pradesh in an area bordering Assam, Nagaland and Myanmar.

One Tahjem r/o Pumao in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh bordering Nagaland & Myanmar, Assam was involved in giving assistance and safe passage to Wangnai wangsu of NSCN(IM) defence sources said.

Army had launched an operation in the area but villagers of Pumao in support of the underground cadres gathered and started pelting stones which hit the head of one of the Indian Army Officer and injured him in retaliation two three suspected militants or supporter injured, as per the defence sources.

Today is also NSCN(IM ) Plebiscite day and the clash coincided on the same particular day.

Meanwhile, the commotion broke up between the villagers and army following the incident and in which one civilian was shot dead and many villagers injured.

The National Socialist Council of Nagaland is a Naga nationalist separatist group operating mainly in Northeast India, with minor activities in northwest Myanmar (Burma) until 2012. The main goal of the organisation is to establish a sovereign Naga state, "Nagalim", which would consist of all the areas inhabited by the Naga people in Northeast India and Northwest Myanmar. The group is currently wanst independence of Nagaland from India.

Meanwhile, on 15th May, on an important development, the Myanmar military handed over 22 northeast insurgents to the Indian government. As reported by Hindustan Times, the insurgents linked to Manipur and Assam were flown down by a private airplane.

In the same report by HT, a top government official stated the issue highlights the diplomatic endeavour between both India and Myanmar. Reports reveal that the jet first stopped in Manipur and later headed to Guwahati. The police have taken over the custody of the insurgents.
