GUWAHATI: The Japan Government has partnered with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India to provide oxygen generation plants to the Northeastern region of India.
With the help of Japan and its citizens, UNDP to procure and instal eith Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) oxygen generation plants in the states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and other parts of the North east region.
To install these oxygen plants, hospital with more or less 1,300 beds were identified in the north eastern region of India and excess oxygens to be distributed among other health facilities in the hospitals vincity. The work is already in progress to get completed the earliest possible.
"Japan stands with India, our friend and partner, in her efforts to fight against COVID-19 pandemic in its critical time," said Satoshi Suzuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan.

Japan had provided as many as 100 Oxygen concentrators to India over the weekend and also told New Delhi that they are ready to provide additional items worth $50 million to help India deal with COVID crisis.
Japand Government and UNDP India have been jointly supporting The Indian Government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic from strengthening health care to reviving livlihood since June, 2020.
Suzuki Satoshi has been supporting many projects in several states of the north east such as in Guwahati he is helping in sewerage projects, in Sikkim road development etc. Japan is also supporting the construction of the Dhubri-Phulbari bridge, which is going to be the longest river bridge in India and will cut short travel time across the Brahmaputra River from more than 8 hours to less than 30 minutes.
