ITANAGAR: Anand Mahindra has nominated Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu to the Thar Hall of Fame after his video of the trip to Vijaynagar went viral.
Khandu has become the first chief minister to arrive in Vijaynagar, the last administrative centre near the Myanmar border in Changlang district. He drove 157 km from Miao to Vijaynagar, describing it as a "beautiful valley surrounded on three sides by Myanmar."

On March 25, Khandu embarked on a vehicle and foot journey. He drove through a muddy and slushy road that passes through a jungle area. It is yet to be motorised. It took two days to complete the trip.
Khandu stayed the night in Gandhigram after walking nearly 15 km. The next day, he continued his journey. During Khandu's visit, ministers Kamlung Mossang and Honchun Ngandam joined him.
A video of Khandu driving a Mahindra Thar through a muddy road, however, has got more attention.
The video soon went viral on the internet. Anand Mahindra, chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra, was impressed by his off-roading abilities in a Mahindra Thar SUV.
Mahindra was so impressed by Khadu's abilities that he took to Twitter to congratulate him and nominate him for the Thar Hall Of Fame.“I think we need to create a Hall of Fame of those owners who know how to ‘Explore the Impossible’ with their Thars. Thar Pehelwans. Tharwans? Give me a better name. And I nominate Mr. Khandu straightaway for inclusion in the Hall of Fame!” he wrote.
Khandu is seen behind the wheel, demonstrating his driving skills on a muddy stretch in the video. Khandu shared the video for the first time on March 29.
“A story of our journey to reach the unreached... It took us two days to reach #Vijaynagar from #Miao travelling 157km through mud and jungle. Vijaynagar is a beautiful valley surrounded on three sides by Myanmar,” Khandu tweeted.
