The BJP candidates are leading in both the Lok Sabha Constituencies in Arunachal Pradesh -Arunachal East and Arunachal West - during the early phases of counting.
As per recent reports, Kiren Rijiju is leading by 4490 votes against NPP candidate Khyoda Apik in West Lok Sabha seat.
On the Assembly election, the BJP has surged ahead in 10 seats, the JD(U) leads in one, and independent candidates are leading in two Assembly constituencies.
Meanwhile, in a close contest, the BJP candidate Kipa Babu leads by 128 votes against Janata Dal (United) candidate Techi Kaso in Itanagar.
BJP Tana Hali Tara is leading by 351 votes against NPP candidate Nabam Vivek in Doimukh constituency.
Counting of votes for the 60-member Arunachal Pradesh assembly and two Lok Sabha constituencies is underway since 8 am. The state is locked in a three-cornered contest between the Congress, the BJP and the NPP.
The 60-member Assembly state has been a bastion of Congress for years. Although the fight in most constituencies was between BJP and Congress, regional parties like People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA), Nationalist People’s Party (NPP) , JD(U) and JD(S).
