ITANAGAR: As many as four houses and four shops were burnt down in a cylinder blast fire accident in Itanagar capital of Arunachal Pradesh.
Four rented rooms, four shops were gutted in fire mishap at Chimpu area of Itanagar in Arunachal. A nearby Anganwadi Centre was also badly damaged.
The fire first broke out around 7 am at one of the houses and spread to all 4 rented rooms within a few minutes.
Properties worth lakhs were lost in the inferno including a two-wheeler. However, no casualties were reported.
“We have lost everything, we have nothing to wear or eat," said a victim.
Criticizing the fire and emergency service for its late response, he also urged the government to increase fire stations in the capital region so that such incidents can be averted on time.
The accomodations belonged to one Tadar Simi, informed police. The reason for the mishap is yet to be ascertained but it could be due to a short-circuit, said an official.
According to the official, the fire spread easily as the tenants had stored gas cylinders in their respective rooms for cooking purposes.
