Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering has written to the Prime Minister of India alleging atrocities by Army Personnel in Longkhjon village of Longding District of Arunachal Pradesh.
Ninong Ering in a letter to PM Narendra Modi said, “I would like to bring to your kind notice about the recent atrocities by Army Personnel in Longkhjon village of Longding District of Arunachal Pradesh on November 18, 2018 where 23 persons along with a Priest namely Lempo Angjen and former GPM Ramgkai Apesam were beaten up for reasons which the villagers were completely ignorant.”
He added that even though the Government of India and the NSCN(IM)/K and other organizations are under cease fire, but they are active in three districts of Arunachal Pradesh State that are Tirap, Changlang and Longding respectively.
He added, “As per ground reality, on the November 18, 2018, the villagers were asked under gun point to carry a dead body of an underground cadre to Ronghua village by the militants. The innocent villagers for the sake of their lives had to carry the body of the dead militant but had no connection with the underground. “
He claimed that the Army raided the village and tortured and harasses the innocent villagers and did not even spare women. “Prior to the operation, Army did not even inform the District Administration nor did they take any civil police with them”, he wrote in the letter.
Ering further stated that this is a gross violation of human Rights. “I have always pleaded for revocation of AFSPA from the State of Arunachal Pradesh. However, it is just a harassment to the innocent people of this region”, he wrote.
He added, “The people are between the Devil and the Deep Sea. The Rakshaks become Bhakshak and the consistent fear psychosis of Army brutality is looming amongst the villagers of these districts of Arunachal Pradesh.”
He further requested the Prime Minister to intervene in the matter and take immediate necessary action on those Army Personnel for the atrocities meted against the villagers of Longkhojan of Longding district.
