Pema Khandu said in a video posted on his Facebook account: “We had earlier clearly stated that PRC issue will not be taken up. I reiterate the PRC matter will not be taken up by the state Government, henceforth. This I have made it clear in my media interview today. I sincerely appeal all my brothers and sisters to ensure peace in the state capital.”
CM Pema Khandu has also called an all-party meeting to discuss the ongoing situation of unrest in the state. Khandu may take the decision for granting of PRC to APSTs in the state after the meeting.
It may be mentioned that thousands of protesters burned the house of Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and ransacked several Government offices including Itanagar Police station, and the DC office.
Meanwhile, in light of the worsening situation of the state and in the twin capital cities of Itanagar and Naharlagun, in particular, due to the ongoing protests regarding the issue of granting PRC to non APST residents of Namsai and Changlang, the Chief Secretary has issued an official statement today morning on behalf of the government of Arunachal Pradesh that no further action will be taken with regards to the said issue.
