In a shocking development just before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has been accused of rape by a woman who approached the Supreme Court on Wednesday. The woman has sought protection and legal remedies from the Delhi High Court. As per reports, her request to lodge an FIR was turned down by a local Arunachal Pradesh Court.
Choosing to remain anonymous, the woman had confided to her lawyer, P Sriram, that she allegedly was raped in 2008 in Circuit House by Khandu and three other men. Khandu had allegedly identified himself as an Army Colonel. Now, the woman is apparently asking for protection because she fears for her life, said the lawyer. She did approach the police in 2015, but was dismissed, as per her account to the lawyer.
