Sub-Zero Temperature? No Problem! Army Rescues 111 Tourists at Arunachal's Sela Pass

Working tirelessly, jawans of the Indian armed forces jumped into action to rescue as many as 111 civilians stranded due to heavy snow at the Sela Pass in the frontier state Arunchal. What makes this feat even more impressive is the fact that the forces also had to contend with sub-zero temperatures in the region.

According to our reports. the Indian Army launched a major civic action operation on 29 February 2020 in Arunachal Pradesh to rescue stranded civilian locals and tourists at an altitude of approximately 14000 feet amid sub-zero temperatures.

Two teams of the Indian Army, alongwith their medical staff and recovery vehicles relentlessly worked throughout night till the wee hours of Sunday to help as many as 111 civilians including women and small children in 70 vehicles.

The tourists were stranded in heavy snow at Sela Pass in Arunachal Pradesh in sub-zero temperature. After rescue, the famished locals and tourists in distress were also provided with hot tea, snacks and food at the site by the Army personnel.

The tourists expressed gratitude to the troops of Indian Army for their efforts which they termed as a god sent help. The Arunchal Chief Minister's office which was also monitoring the situation also complimented the Indian Army for their timely and effective response.
