Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Takam Sanjoy has resigned as party President following the Congress party's humiliating defeat in the both the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections which were being held simultaneously in the frontier state on April 11.
Taking sole responsibility for humiliating defeat, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Takam Sanjoy yesterday formally tendered his resignation.
According to sources, he will soon send his formal resignation letter to the party high command in New Delhi. However, he has said that he will always remain loyal to the Congress party.
It may be mentioned that the Congress party only won four seats in the last Arunachal Pradesh assembly election and lost both the seats in the Lok Sabha election.
Meanwhile, Sanjoy has alleged that the BJP was only able to win this election with money power and termed this victory a "money wave" and not a "Modi wave" as claimed by various sections of the media and the BJP supporters.
However, he congratulated the BJP and Chief Minister Pema Khandu for winning the elections.
On a similar note, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President (APCC) President Ripun Bora has also submitted his resignation letter to Congress supremo Rahul Gandhi, also taking full responsibility for the party's failure to secure a majority in Assam.
Not only this, party President Rahul Gandhi himself has offered to resign in light of the election debacle in which the BJP's saffron wave swept the nation, and along with its NDA political allies was able to win a remarkable 353 seats in the 2019 General Elections. BJP leader Narendra Modi will be sworn in on Prime Minister on May 30.
