45 Arunachal youths head to Hyderabad for skill training to tackle unemployment

Forty-five unemployed youths from Arunachal Pradesh departed for a three-month skill development programme at the National Academy of Construction in Hyderabad today, marking a significant step toward addressing the state's unemployment challenges.

 

Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Kento Jini flagged off the departure ceremony for the participants, who include school dropouts and individuals at risk of social exclusion. The initiative, organised by the Youth Resource Centre (YRC) Itanagar under the Department of Youth Affairs, specifically targets young people from various districts across the state.

 

Director of Youth Affairs Ramesh Linggi, YRC Project Coordinator Pangngam Wangnaw, and Assistant Project Coordinator Raso Gyadi attended the send-off event.

 

The programme focuses on construction-related skills, including plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry. According to Wangnaw, the training aims to integrate youth into mainstream society through skill development and vocational education.

 

Minister Jini highlighted the economic potential of the initiative, explaining that skilled workers in these trades can earn significantly more than those in government contingency jobs.

 

The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Modi's "Vocal for Local" campaign and aims to make Arunachal Pradesh self-reliant by developing local expertise.

 

Speaking to India Today NE, many participants expressed both excitement and nervousness about the journey ahead. Several will experience train travel for the first time and venture outside their home state. The selection particularly focused on youth from remote districts who face social and economic challenges.
