"A void that cannot be filled": Arunachal cop killed in tiger attack cremated at Namsai

The last rites of Head Constable (WT) Chow Chikseng Manpang, who lost his life in a tragic tiger attack while on duty, were performed with full state honours at Namsai on Tuesday, as the district bid an emotional farewell to the fallen policeman.

The solemn ceremony was marked by traditional death rites and ceremonial gun salutes, reflecting deep respect for the service and sacrifice of the deceased. Senior district and police officials, including Namsai Deputy Commissioner C R Khampa, Superintendent of Police Sange Thinley, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Pujom Buchi of Roing, paid floral tributes and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.

Family members, local residents, police personnel, and IRBN officials gathered in large numbers to honour the departed soul, underscoring the widespread grief over his untimely demise.

Late Chow Chikseng Manpang, a resident of Manfaiseng village in Namsai district, was serving as Head Constable (Wireless Telegraphy) at Roing Police Station. Born on September 8, 1983, he was the son of Chow Ingta Manpang and is survived by his wife, Nang Rojita Choumoung, three daughters, and one son.

He lost his life in an unfortunate incident in the Mayudia area of Lower Dibang Valley district while returning to Roing after completing official duties at Anini.

Expressing profound grief, the Namsai District Administration said his sudden demise has left an irreparable void, not only within his family but also among his colleagues and the larger community. The administration extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of solidarity and support during this moment of deep sorrow.
