Arunachal: After Tawang, sacred relics of Shakyamuni Buddha arrive in Bomdila, to be on display from November 8
The sacred bone relics of Gautama Buddha are being exhibited at TGL Monastery (Lower Gompa) in Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh, from November 8 to 13 as part of a special exposition aimed at providing devotees and visitors an opportunity to pay their respects.
The exposition features the sacred Piprahwa bone relics of Shakyamuni Buddha, which have been brought from the National Museum in New Delhi for the event. The exhibition in Bomdila follows a seven-day exposition at Tawang Monastery, held from November 1 to 7.
The event is being jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC).
Following the conclusion of the Bomdila exposition on November 13, the sacred relics will be taken to the Golden Pagoda in Namsai, where they will be displayed from November 14 to 20.
The series of expositions across Arunachal Pradesh is expected to provide Buddhist devotees and followers an opportunity to offer prayers and pay homage to the relics associated with the life and teachings of Lord Buddha.
