Arunachal Assembly holds special session to mark 50 years of legislative journey

The Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on September 8 began its seventh special session of the eighth Assembly to commemorate 50 years of the state’s legislative journey.

The two-day special session, being held in Itanagar, marks five decades of legislative progress and democratic history in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Assembly passed three key legislative measures on the first day, including the Arunachal Pradesh Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Facilitation, Establishment and Operation) Ordinance, 2026, aimed at facilitating the establishment and operation of small businesses and promoting employment.

The House also passed the Fire Services Bill, 2026, aimed at strengthening fire safety and emergency response mechanisms across the state.

Vice President C P Radhakrishnan is scheduled to attend the special session on Wednesday during his two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh.

Radhakrishnan will arrive in Itanagar from Imphal on Tuesday evening as part of his four-day tour of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, which began on Sunday.

During his visit, the Vice President will address the special session of the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly and visit the Assembly gallery-cum-museum.

The special session is being held as the state marks five decades of its legislative evolution and democratic institutions.
